Sven

He did well out of his stay in England, plenty of women, plenty of money without appearing to do very much. As a non-english supporter I have been delighted with is reign and hope very much that Steve Mc Claren continues in the same vein. Also, pretty happy about the bust up between Rooney and Ronaldo......be good to see Man Utd lose Ronaldo....

Sven has managed to swindle 25million out of England - the same amount as the Northern Bank raid. Which was the biggest crime?

For this they got 3 Quarter Finals. Its a farce. You could argue England first got put out by Brazil and then by the host nation - however, they led in both games and should have won.

Then we all know about this tourney.... brutal. Sven says he thinks this was not ok to go out in... but the other two were ok.. I dont agree... I think that he should have reached maybe 2 semis out of the 3 tourneys and probably more.

In Japan and Korea - had they beaten Brazil, Germany were there for the taking.
In Portugal - Come on - Greece won it!
In Germany - Whos left?, an ancient france, a takeable germany and an "efficient" Italian unit

They crashed out in Korea because they faded away in the second half and the manager had little idea what to do - dont sit idly by and watch your team just die... change something - anything! (BTW this problem was never solved)

They relied too much on Rooney in Portugal, surely the manager should have had a Plan B in place by his second major tournament?

In Germany, far from having plugged the gap with well developed gameplans, Ericsson was exposed by unreadable/random decisions, over-caution, a badly chosen squad and pure bad management.

In 5 years, he never solved the balance in the midfield, he never took a tough decision on the playing system or anything else for that matter, he was the epitomy of the manager who said - ok lads - just go out there and do it - a bit like someone landing the Brazil job and thinking this is the easiest job in the world - I'll just park my brain by the door here.

A worse thought again occurs when you think of what a Guus Hiddink, or a Felippe Scolari, or a Lippi, even an O'Neill could do with that England squad... 25 million.... ha ha

BUT, just to put a brighter note to this.... Sven surely hasnt escaped unharmed. Who could look at the squad development choices of a man finally reduced to Walcot and Crouch, or the bringing on of Carra to take a peno, or the switching of Beckham to right back, or the choices which compounded their problems in the second half against sweden and think this is a viable manager for their team? I'd be surprised if any "football man" could think like that and bring Ericsson to their club.

I hope he has had his 25million well invested... it may have to do him for a while.
